The Ministry of Heavy Industries is finalizing the contours of the FAME-III (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles) scheme. Initial reports suggest a total outlay of ₹10,000 Crore.
Focus Areas
To maximize impact, the subsidy will primarily target public transport (e-buses) and last-mile connectivity (e-rickshaws and two-wheelers). Private electric cars may not see direct purchase subsidies this time around.
Industry Reaction
EV manufacturers like Ola Electric and Ather Energy have welcomed the news, stating that continued support is crucial to reach 30% EV penetration by 2030.
