Maruti's Electric Debut
Maruti Suzuki has officially confirmed that its first battery-electric vehicle (BEV), based on the eVX concept, will hit Indian roads by late 2025. This marks a significant shift for the automaker, which has previously focused on hybrids and CNG fuel options.
Localized for India
The production version will be heavily localized to keep costs competitive against the Tata Nexon EV and the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV. Sources suggest a starting price around ₹18-20 Lakhs, making it a mass-market contender.
Range and Performance
Built on a dedicated EV skateboard platform developed with Toyota, the eVX will feature a 60kWh battery pack delivering a claimed range of over 550km on a single charge. It will also support fast charging capabilities suitable for Indian highway infrastructure.
